I trust everyone has had a truly blessed and fulfilling 2009! I thought this would
be a great opportunity to reflect on the past year to see where we have been and
then talk a little bit about where we are going. Let me be the first to say, we have
a “fabulous” Sunday School Class. There is a feeling of togetherness and a true
desire to do God’s will as it relates to our class and Galeed Baptist Church.
Our scholarship fund is up and running. Although the dance was not considered
a success as far as fundraisers go, we did have a good time. God then opened
another door and we were able to participate in the Bladenboro BeastFest with
great success. With very little work, very little money spent and some fantastic
volunteers, we managed to raise approximately $800. As you all know, the
Christmas Parade plans did not work out, but everything happens for a reason.
I’m sure there will be other opportunities and open doors. We will just have to
wait on the Lord for some direction.
In between all these fundraising efforts, we have had some great socials and
brainstorming sessions on other projects, not to mention some tasty meals prepared
by members of our class. The Hands on Africa Project and the Hampstead
Project was a great success. I’m hope things are going well at the orphanage
and I’m sure there were some very excited ‘tweens in Hampstead on Christmas
morning.
OK, now that we have recapped the past, let’s talk about the future. Richard did a
fantastic job on the lesson Sunday morning and delivered a challenge to each
and everyone of us for the new year. To sum it up; If God has not led you to
leave our church and told you where to go, then assume that God wants you
where you are. If God leads you to go else where, then go. Until that happens,
give God and the church 100% of your faithfulness and service. I feel as a class
we have tried to do just that, but our personal lives may be getting in the way of a
true meaningful relationship with Christ. I’m sure this is something we can all
work on, and should.
Although we are a tremendous mission minded class, we need to also take an
active role in planned church activities. I would like for our class to talk about taking
a spot in the Wednesday night meal rotation. Think about this idea and let me
know what you think.
We still need to plan a trip to Hampstead to spend some quality time with these
children and talk about other fundraising options for our scholarship fund. I would
also like to see us get our breakfast rotation back on track. This is something we
definitely need to do at least once of month. We will have breakfast this Sunday
to get the new church year off to a good start, so come early!
I’m running out of room, so I’ll stop writing. Have a great New Year’s! Connie
